Coach facilitated Training Options       TDPS_COA

One of the driving forces behind establishing these training programs is a first-hand observation of the challenges faced especially by single mothers. With dependent children at home they may not always meet the attendance requirements because they may have a sick child to attend to. Someone who is at home for other medical reasons might want to beef up their skills to make a career change. One of the options we sponsor is for a group of people to get together and then collectively take courses at home with mutual support and thus bypassing the challenges of going to a classroom location. There are in-person coaching options, and there are internet-options like Skype that can be used to deliver the training experience at your chosen meeting place. For someone with an afternoon job that makes it difficult to schedule study time this can also be a great format to accumulate the knowledge and skills for career development in a different field.

You can easily arrange to have daycare on the premises – get a student to look after the babies while you study in preparation for going back to work in a better job position and everybody wins in their own way. If you want to pursue this option, we need to pre-arrange to have a coach for you to work with, or you can propose your own coach (we will reach out to this person and then review what is involved in order to perform this role). There are many people that have retired and may be interested in doing part-time teaching or coaching, but they have not found the right opportunity to do so in their area, and they may not want the commitment of establishing their own affiliate arrangements.

  • For aspiring coaches we have information to explain how to get established with our programs to offer flexible training services that can make a difference for many people. We have courses in our Self Employment Opportunities section that outline different options for you to consider.

Courses are priced by contact hours at a rate set by the service provider, usually $15/hour for a group of at least 4 students. This fee includes your study materials, which are the same regardless of the format you take, and compensation for the coach/instructor to come to your study venue.

  • $15/hour = 15 Hours @ $225, 30 Hours @ $450, 60 Hours @ $900

These are only contact hours – you can take longer to complete the course without paying extra for the privilege. Study notes will be provided in an electronic PDF format. The study guide is an Excel™ workbook with a test engine that lets you take the final test when you are ready to do so. When you complete the test you can enter the information supplied by the test engine into our on-line enquiry form page to indicate you completed the course, and you will receive a certificate of completion. You decide when you may be ready to take the next course.

For this format, the class hours can be established by mutual agreement, depending on the availability of the coach. We recommend that you stick to a 3-hour day format that is long enough to cover the material scheduled for each session, and not so long that your attention span is challenged by a hungry mouth to feed or other priceless interruptions. You can even use this format to blend training in around working hours, so long as the coach is able to fit the schedule you set for yourself. If you are in a service job that starts at 11, you might want to meet for the 07:00-10:00 timeframe to complete each session, and go to work. Since you are not in a classroom it may be possible to dress for work.

Registration for each course is done on-line, using the enquiry form on the linkage page you reached when you expressed an interest to access these course descriptions. There are normally 6 steps to follow:

  • You browse the catalog and look at courses that interest you. If a course looks interesting, you can re-open the enquiry/registration page to ask for more information about the course in question.
  • Select the course of interest to start the enquiry, and then provide your personal information so we can get back to you. Select if you want to just enquire, or to actually register in the course as well. It is important to select if you want morning, afternoon, or evening.
  • Course information is sent to you usually within a day. We also put this information into a PayPal invoice that identifies the course, as well as the dates of classroom availability (if you want to register).
  • To register, simply make a PayPal payment – we selected this way to make sure the transaction is completely secure. If you do not want to register, ignore the invoice.
  • When your payment is confirmed, a complete study package will be sent to you within 7 days. This gives you the option to preview the course, or even to complete it through independent study.
  • If you want to complete the course in a classroom setting then it is a simple matter of showing up for the class as documented.

Note that for any courses that require computer access we expect you to bring your own laptop computer. It is not strictly a requirement to bring a computer to class – you can do all assignments at home. We recommend you bring at least a USB memory key to receive additional materials from the instructor.

Your certificate of completion will be in a PDF format so that you can send it to a prospective employer. It will list the course outline as well as show a more-or-less conventional acknowledgement of your achievement. You can print the certificates and put them in a presentation binder that then represents a complete inventory of everything you have learned.

If you have any additional questions about our training program you can use the registration form to contact us, or use the E-mail address to send us a more detailed question if necessary.
